A process based Group art exhibition

curated by Artist rafiqul shuvo

Dhaka art center, Dhaka, Bangladesh

December 1-7, 2012

Concept of the show:

It was an open call exhibition. Curator called for artists by asking them what will be the each individual artist's role/position in that show and also asked to discourse / analyze “Mourn” based on few questions below:

“Problem is, emotion is converted into routine all the time?

Why emotion is converted into routine all the time?”

“Sensors-damaged or missing?

Why Sensors-damaged or missing?”

“A place under discussion is always fluid?

Why A place under discussion is always fluid?”

“Is there any possibility of authenticity or it is not required?

Why Is there no possibility of authenticity?”

“I do not know what I protest

Why I do not know what I protest?”

This was a process-based show with three layers, consisting of collecting artworks friendly discussions on perspectives on art including: stating, explaining, defending, one's position as one is sourcing, linking, modifying, molding, tuning, overlapping etc to make art. At the final stage, selected works showcased and the participants passed a pleasant time discoursing art and related issues.

The process may be termed as make-discuss-act or act-discuss-make.
in the end, the show was an attempt at presenting a perfect blend of earlier two layers.
